WHAT TO EXPECT
This program is nationally recognized and a safe and challenging curriculum for recreational gymnastics for athletes 6-12 in Canada. The program allows gymnasts to work diligently to build their gymnastics skills in a non-competitive environment by accomplishing their badge levels. Individuals can advance through the badges at the pace most appropriate for them.
CYGNUS OFFERS THE 14 BADGES OF THIS PROGRAM SPLIT INTO THREE SECTIONS
CanGym Beginner
(ages 6-12; co-ed)
CanGym Intermediate
(ages 6-12; split in boys and girls apparatus’)
CanGym Advanced
(ages 6-12; split in boys and girls apparatus’)
The CanGym program is designed so that athletes will progress through each badge by building on to their skills.
While our sessions are scheduled in 12 week blocks, there is no indicated time on how long it takes each individual to progress through each level. Some skills take more than one session to master. Typically, higher badge levels take more than one session to complete.
EVALUATION PROCESS
At the end of each session, athletes will receive a report card indicating their progress by noting each skill with the following:
A – Attempted
The athlete has been introduced to the skill
L – Learning
The athlete has attempted the skill but requires assistance or needs to perfect some aspect of the skill
M – Mastered
The athlete has successfully completed the skill multiple times
